Ahriman's Utterance to the Divs (Drayishn-i Ahriman o Divan)

1. It is manifest that Ahriman speaks to the divs every night: "go into the world; and first go to the sea and dry up the sea; and go to the white Hom and dry it up entirely, for they will revive the dead bodies of men therewith; and go to the mountain and shake the mountain entirely, for the mountain is the system of te world; and go to the vegetation and dry up the entire vegetation; and go to the dwelling abodes of men and smite all men, oxen, and sheep; carry decrease towards decrease and carry increase towards increase; carry over happiness to the ignorant; so that the wise would be sceptic; do not look at the constellation 'Seven bears' [[Haptoring]], do not look at the star Vanand so that you would be able to do work.

2. Those divs and drujs go to the sea, the Saena bird cries aloud and they become languid; they go to the white Hom, and the Kar fish raises its head thither out of the water and they become languid; and they go to the mountain, the Karkas bird cries aloud thither and they become languid; and they go to the forest, and the Vohuman bird cries aloud thither and they become languid; they go to the dwelling abodes of men, from the Garothman [[heaven]] there comes a voice and from [[Mount]] Alburz come the Beneficent Immortals [[Amahraspands, i.e. Archangels]], travelling from Kang-diz there comes Peshyotan's voice and they become languid; they look at the sky, they see the star Vanand and the constellation 'Seven bears' [[Haptoring]] and their strength goes away.

3. Then the Yazad Srosh claps the hands to call the cock; when the cock crows the Fire Warharan smites a number of them and the Fire of the hearth smites a number when they kindle it at midnight, the invisible Dron rite smites a number, and Srosh smites all others.
